This symbol (designed by the Information Commissioner) acts as a signpost, so that you can tell at a glance that personal data about you is being collected and processed.

How does OAC collect information about you?

By registering to use the Website, the user has to input personal information in order to use the services. All personal information is only obtained by the user inputting information, which is then stored on a secure server. No personal information will be obtained without prior permission from the registered user eg through the use of cookies (see "Use of cookies" for more information).

Use of further facilities on the Website after registration may add additional information to individual records eg through the use of forms. The Website will only collect information to improve the experience users gain from using the Website.

How will OAC use the information it collects about you?

Your information is strictly confidential.

The information gathered (as explained in "How does OAC collect information about you?") will only be used for the purpose of providing services on the Website and any subsequent Mo.net licences.

It may be appropriate to contact registered users directly with useful and relevant information about Mo.net by email, post or telephone. Registered users have to consent to such contact when they register - however, these preferences can be changed by the registered user at any time after registration.

Will OAC share your information with anyone else?

Information gathered will only be for the use and management of the Website and any subsequent Mo.net licences. Information will not be passed to any business or individual not involved with the management of the Website or the distribution of Mo.net licences.

The management of the Website is all done within the United Kingdom (UK), therefore, the Website is bound to UK legislation and regulations.

OAC may need to pass on your information to people who provide a service to them (although it will only do this on the understanding that they keep your information confidential) and anyone to whom we may transfer our rights and duties. We may also disclose your information if we have a duty to do so or if the law requires us to.

How long will OAC keep your personal information on file?

OAC will not keep your information for longer than is necessary and will take steps to ensure that it is kept up-to-date.

OAC reserves the right to notify you if any part of the Website will be terminated, and a sufficient notice period will be given. Upon termination all personal details will be deleted from the OAC system. OAC reserves the right to notify you to ask whether you need your account due to a long period of non use. Again, upon any account closures all personal details will be deleted from the OAC system.

You have a right under the Data Protection Act 1998 to ask what information we hold about you. You can do this by using the contact details below if you require a printout of your details (there is a charge of £10 for this service).

Security

OAC provides an encrypted and secure connection for all webpages that require registered users to provide personal and identifiable information. An encrypted connection provides a high level of security that would be naturally expected for the type of information the Website uses.

Please remember that internet communications are not secure unless the data being sent is encrypted. We cannot accept any responsibility for unauthorised access by a third party or for the corruption of data sent to us by non secure means. We recommend that all enquiries are made through our secure Website and not by email.

Links to other websites

The Website has hyperlinks to other websites. OAC is not responsible for the data policies or for the content of any other website. It is recommended that you appraise yourself of the privacy policy and procedures applicable to such other websites and of persons operating and controlling such other websites.

Use of cookies

There are two types of cookie**: session and persistent.

OAC uses session cookies to enable the Website to identify registered users once they have registered and logged in. The session cookies also allow registered users to access their details and information at any time. This type of cookie only operates when the user is logged in and is deleted automatically after a specific period of time when there has been no activity, or when the user logs off.

The Website does offer a persistent cookie as part of the login, in order to remember login details for future use. This type of cookie will stay permanently on the computer's hard drive until the registered user selects not to remember login details at the login webpage, or this cookie is removed manually.

Any development of cookies would be for the benefit of registered users.

** A cookie is a piece of information stored on your computer's hard drive by your internet browser.
